Poetic Bloomings - July Challenge Finished

July 31st – And we end this month-long beach party the same way we started it, by saying “Aloha!”  Say goodbye this time: to the beach, summer or any friend you may have made on the sandy shore. Remember that there’s always another Aloha next year. Every ending is a new beginning, especially when it comes to Aloha!

The Hills and Sea and Me

I loved every shimmery, silver moment with you.
Your liquescent siren’s song now lives in me
as does  the mountain’s gentle woo
that calls me home to things deeper than the sea.

Your liquescent Siren’s song now lives in me,
You bid me come and still the mountains I adore
call me home to things deeper than the sea,
ground me, even as my heart and yours soar.

You bid me come and still the mountains I adore
enfold me, comfort me with a lover’s care,
ground me, even as my heart and yours soar
Oh, hills and sea and me, menage a trois affair.

Enfold me; comfort me with a lover’s care,
as does  the mountain’s gentle woo.
Oh, hills and sea and me, ménage a trois affair -
I loved every shimmery, silver moment with you.

July 30th – One last look reveals the most incredible sunset you’ve ever witnessed. Make it your poem!

               Sunset Over the Ocean

Psychedelic  orangey orb in a cloudless sky
streaked with pink and peachy splotches,
distorted in a mirror image on a choppy sea,
slipping lower and lower toward the deep
until it touches that fine line between
sky and sea.  I wait to hear the soft, long hisss,
to see mushroom clouds of hot mist
but it fizzles like a dud firecracker, goes out.
And then I…  breathe.

July 29th – As the sky changes and your surroundings get muted and hazy, write about the silhouette that is set before you. Bring the shadow out of the shadows and into the light of your muse. What is this silhouette?

July 28th – You’ve taken one last stroll along the shore either by yourself or holding the hand of your significant one (spouse, partner, friend, child…). You come across an interesting piece of driftwood. It looks like… Tell us about your souvenir in detail.
