Poetic Bloomings - Week’s End

July 27th – The vacation, as they usually do, is starting to wide down. We need to start thinking about returning “home” to our routine. We’ve had fun. We’ve relaxed. We daydreamed and envisioned better things for the world and ourselves. Look out to the horizon and realize there are many possibilities to ponder. Write a ‘horizon’ poem.

It’s been
a week of
lazy mornings…
sleeping late
second cup of coffee
on the balcony
wiggle into a still
damp bathing suit
a dip in the pool
then on to the beach
my tan stands out
midst newcomer’s
lighter shade of pale.

Now to pack my
laziness away
and face life’s
busyness  again.
I feel a momentary
rebellion at the thought
then  conjecture
man was not made
for idleness
and I have miles
to go and things to do
and glad am I
that I do.
