A Birthday in September ~ William Carlos Williams
Rain drop, I picture you on your cloud
high above
the earth looking down
from your
misty perch on eagles and
high flying
hawks freewheeling, swooping.
Desire
builds to fly through the air...
so you jump,
free falling, plunging, loving the rush
of wind then
crash into a leaf, kerplink,
making it bow,
you slide to the tip
and drip onto
a blade of thirsty grass
and wait for
it all to begin again.
Your focus on subject is very much on point - I followed the fall of a single raindrop with much delight. I love your choice of words in this poem, especially the 'kerplink'!

DeleteThank you. I keep thinking it is just descriptive. I have so enjoyed reading the other poets' work. They have been good examples.
ReplyDeleteI like the imagery of the raindrop - from the free falling to dripping on the grass ~ Enjoyed your share ~
ReplyDeleteI love the way you wrote your poem and how I could feel and sense the raindrop and its rhythm!
ReplyDeleteApt for me, as it rained last night.
